Back to Back.

So, back in college, I picked up a K-Tel CD at a used record shop. It was a K-Tel split disc of Barry White and Isaac Hayes, their greatest hits. I played it at the sandwich shop all the time, to everyone's pleasure -- so often, in fact, that the disc got pretty beat up. When I graduated and moved back to Chicago, I decided to donate the CD to the store.

I soon regretted that decision, missing that great mix of sexy soul music. The next time I was in Columbus, I planned to get it back, but someone had already taken it home and added it to their personal collection. Every time I pop into a used record shop since then, I've checked for that album. I've also on occasion looked around online, but I haven't known the exact title, which made searching sort of difficult. However, thanks to the All Music Guide, I finally tracked it down: "Back to Back: Barry White and Isaac Hayes," released in 1992 (alternate description in case AllMusic.com locked you out).

A quick search on Amazon turned up three used copies -- starting at $39.99! Little did I know what a goldmine I had in that little jewelcase. For a fraction of that price, I can easily pick up the individual tracks on iTunes or elsewhere and burn my own copy; the only thing I won't have is the cover art. But it would've been nice to have that CD back, but I'm $40 nostalgic for it.

UPDATE: Mike Marusin has a copy of the CD for me! How cool is that?

Andrew, I am about 99% sure I have that disc at home. Does it have a mint-greenish cover? For some reason that's the color that is in my head.

I don't have the emotional tie to it that you do, so if you'd like it in exchange for some Gapers Block paraphernalia, let me know... :)
