Everyone else seems to be doing it...

Here (well, down there, since it's breaking my layout) is the map of the states I've been to:

Looks like I need to hit the upper third of the country next. And Alaska and Hawaii, of course.(Create your own here.)

I considered doing a world map, but it'd be pretty boring: USA, Canada, Mexico and France -- England if you include the hour spent in Heathrow on the way to France.

My, your map is indeed bottom-heavy. I was amused to see that you hadn't visited Alabama either, despite having visited all the states around it. Same for me. In fact, the only time I visited Mississippi was when I was on a business trip to Memphis and ended up crossing the state line to buy new batteries for my Walkman. I was in Mississipi for no more than ten minutes.

Yeah, a good portion of the Mississippi river valley was covered on a train trip to New Orleans. I never actually set foot in Miss. or Arkansas, just rode the rails on through.

Where's the map? I don't see it. I'm on Mozilla.

I think their server is down. It's been linked all over the damn place.

Okay, so here's my idea for the next big blog meme. First, we register the domain JUMPOFFABRIDGE.COM. Then we figure out some wacky thing that the site does, like it generates a random graphic of someone jumping off a bridge that people can put on their blogs. Then we get people to start linking to it on their sites, with the tagline "If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?" The site instantly becomes popular, shoots to the top of the blogdex list, and is nominated for a Webby for Best Meme. I'm a GENIUS!!!!!

I like your meme, jima, smartass though it sounds.

Andrew's map is bottom-heavy and eastern-seaboard heavy, just as mine is, but I wager most people's maps look a bit like this. How many people other than mountain climbers have seen Wyoming? I mean, what's in Wyoming?

I've been to wyoming. it's where the country ejaculates hot water into the air at regular intervals. you know, Old Faithful?

Oh! Then I've been to Wyoming. I thought that was in northern Arizona.

I know a lot of people who have been to Wyoming. If you're driving to the midwest or New England from California, it's usual to stop in Cheyenne. It's funny: I think of California as a very southern state and Wyoming as a very northern state, but the map shows that the southern border of Wyoming is about the same as the northern border of California.

Annoyingly, even though I've been to all the other original 13, I somehow missed Delaware. I don't know when I'll ever pick that one up. But really, if I were given a choice between finishing my U.S. map and going to BC or the UK again, I don't think it would be a hard choice.

Shoot, Andrew, this is cool. Maybe I'll do one.

Say... if I've only been to the airport in Anchorage but never set foot outside, can I say I've been to Alaska?

My dad (who reads my blog) reminded me that I've been through Virginia on the way to South Carolina at least twice. I'm not going to bother updating the image, but I figured I'd note it.
