10 Years

My high school 10 year reunion is this FridaySaturday. I'm not completely sure how I feel about it yet. More on it later, most likely

However, that also means it's been 10 years since I went off to college. Today in 1993, I would have been at Ohio State for a little over two weeks, I'd already be on my way to failing Math 128 but I would have met with the someone in the art department and gotten credit for Art 102 based on my portfolio from high school. (Not that the two canceled each other out.) I'd have messed around with a girl, and finally broken down and hooked up my long-distance service so I could talk with my girlfriend back home...and my parents.

I'd be staying up way too late and drinking way too much coffee, unable to fit everything I needed to get done into the limited daylight hours. On one day soon, I would wake up at 6:15am to work the dorm cafeteria, then pull an all-nighter that evening and then go out for hotwings with friends at midnight the following night. Sometime between now and Halloween, I'd attend a frat party, drink way too much vodka, puke heavily and lose my wallet inside my dorm room, only to find it months later behind my bed. In my version of the "freshman 15," I'd lose 10 pounds.

Remind me of these things when I get nostalgic for college. I don't anticipate heading back to OSU in 2007 to celebrate that 10 year mark.
