Some things on my desk besides work.

• Two coffee cups; one made by my mom -- white on the inside and varying shades of blue on the out, with swishes of olive and white -- and one with the logo of this site on it. (You could have one, too!) The mug from my mom holds a disused tea steeping spoon, the me3dia mug holds water, not coffee.

• A Hotwheels car: a purple Ferrari Testarossa with a white stallion bursting out of an orange hole painted on the hood, still wrapped in plastic. I brought it to work to try to price it online for my brother Danny -- I didn't succeed, but never gave it back to him.

• A strip of black & white photographs of Cinnamon and me, taken in a photobooth in the Holiday Club at Irving Park and Sheridan.

• A mint julep glass from Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans, filled with water and containing my pet octopus, a blue-and-white glass figurine with red eyes, hanging from a glass bubble, that I got at a glasswork studio in N.O. last summer. He doesn't have a name -- any suggestions?

• Follett's Vest Pocket 50,000 Words, featuring as promised 50,000 words (plus 3400 variants) spelled correctly and divided into syllables. A lot faster than the OED on the counter across the room.
