...fivetwentyfour...

So I was reading on Catherine's blog that she's hypoglycemic. I've wondered the same thing about myself for a while; I often get headaches and I'm often tired, irritable when I haven't eaten, and occasionally I've had a fast heartbeat, depression and other symptoms. Once I've eaten something these symptoms usually go away rather quickly.
Back when I was doing music publicity on the side, I'd usually go straight from work to meetings with my partners. I'd arrive, pale and bitchy, and they'd ask me whether I'd eaten anything yet. The answer was no, of course, and we'd go out and grab a snack. (My issues were hardly the only ones among the three of us; Chris would often fly off the handle and act like a paranoid nut, which was often -- but not always -- attributable to his allergy to soy).
The pale, brooding, bitchy Huffy would also rear his head in college when I worked on the newspaper. I'd show up for my 5-midnight shift in a horrible mood, and some other editor would remind me that I hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast. I'd storm back out, get some dinner, and return in a much better mood.
So I'm going to work on getting more protein and less simple carbohydrates in my meals, and get a couple snacks in during the day. Hopefully that'll help. And maybe I'll even lose some weight in the bargain.

And which editor would say, "When was the last time you ate?" *grumble* "Go home and eat and then come back."

Me, yeah, me.

I really hope this works for you, Andrew, and that your feeling better in no time. Wouldn't it be nice if all it involved was eating properly for us to feel good and didn't involve medication of any kind? That is why I am all for this program and plan on following it to the letter.
